Bitcoin Mining Council Formed
After Discussions Between Top Mining Companies, Elon Musk, and Michael Saylor – The Bitcoin Mining Council Has Been Formed
In a meeting hosted by Michael Saylor, the top North American Bitcoin mining companies and Elon Musk have agreed to form the Bitcoin mining council.
Since Tesla revealed they would stop accepting payments via Bitcoin due to their view it had a detrimental environmental impact, the whole Crypto market saw tumultuous days with all-time-highs being wiped out and massive drops across the board.
A lot of Twitter back and forth and claims of an environmental FUD from Elon by the Bitcoin community have led to somewhat strained relations between the Bitcoin community and Elon Musk; who even promised to go all-in on Dogecoin as a result.
With this latest announcement of the Bitcoin mining council which looks to “promote energy usage transparency & accelerate sustainability initiatives worldwide” there’s some hope this might change. The Bitcoin mining council will also publish and reveal their plans to make Bitcoin use more renewable energy and the current levels of renewable energy used.
Elon Musk announced on Twitter:
“Spoke with North American bitcoin miners. They committed to publish current & planned renewable usage & to ask miners worldwide to do so. Potentially promising.”
Michael Saylor also made an announcement at a similar time, confirming he hosted the meeting and was excited about the talks.
