Bitcoin Legal Tender In El Salvador
After The Marquee Announcement At The Miami Bitcoin Conference – Bitcoin Legal Tender In El Salvador Is Now Official
The Miami Bitcoin Conference 2021 had some great moments. From the expertise of Nick Szabo on the history of money, Max Keiser’s “F*ck Elon”, Jack Dorsey heckling from Laura Loomer to the Dogecoin intruder with their “Dogecoin to the moon” shouts.
By far the best moment though was when Jack Mallers broke the massive news with Bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador now!
Since then the El Salvador President Nayib Bukele’s proposal was passed with a supermajority (62 of 84 total possible votes) to adopt Bitcoin in the Central American country. Making some claim this is now the first “Decentralized” American country. Bukele said on Twitter:
“It will bring financial inclusion, investment, tourism, innovation and economic development for our country.”
In true pioneering style, Nayib Bukele also instructed state-owned geothermal electric firm LaGeo to develop plans to mine Bitcoin using energy from the country’s volcanoes. A completely renewable energy source of course. If you can’t get behind volcano mined Bitcoin… then what can you!?
El Salvador as a country and Bukele especially are excited about the possibilities Bitcoin will offer them, and we at Complete Crypto are excited to see how it goes for them. Many other countries have since expressed interest via some political figures. Paraguay, Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil especially with some figures adopting laser eyes on Twitter and wanting to make similar adoption laws to El Salvador.
This is definitely one to watch, and we could see Bitcoin explode further from here…
With Bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador, does this make you even more excited about the possibilities of Bitcoin? Or are you still yet to be impressed (not even by volcano Bitcoins)…
