Gemini Review – Safety and Security

Gemini is one of the certified Crypto companies operating under the supervision and in cooperation with the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). Furthermore, it has secured insurance for all user’s funds on the exchange. This ensures the maximum safety of funds and protects customers against hacks that Crypto Exchanges have been targeted by in the past.

On the other hand, the company’s drawback may appear if it does not cooperate with regulating bodies regarding the listing of new crypto assets, disadvantages of the industry, etc. According to Linkedin, 150 people in the Gemini team are experts in finance, risk management, security experts, and others.

We did not find any information regarding being hacked during our review, and its funds are FDIC secured. They utilize security and compliance by being compliant in SOC 1 Type 1, SOC 2 Type 1, and Type 2. With these security measurements in places, it requires customers signing up to provide personal information like email address, bank details, IDs to open an account with Gemini.

Gemini takes a flat 1.49% fee on trading amounts over $200. You can see the full breakdown for mobile and web here (and below for your reference).

On the other hand, Gemini takes no deposit fee from any US bank accounts and wire transfers (you would be charged buy your bank if they takes fees for transfers though). Moreover, for high-volume traders, there is a different rate structure in the ActiveTrader Program. Here the charge depends on the liquidity and the time of purchase. Gemini takes an immediate fee, known as a “taker fee.” Moreover, if your order needs to wait for buyers’ you have to incur a “maker fee.” Moreover, the “auction fee” refers to the option of selling blocks of cryptocurrencies at a maximum buy price and minimum sell price.
